First venture out...

So I've taken the advice of my colleagues - gone to the one place in Derby that'll take me to the rest of the world...or at least - out of Derby.

Ventured into Nottingham - yep - the one of Robin Hood and His Merry Men...

Except, I didn't go for Robin Hood this time round. Went searching for the gallery where the Shell Wildlife Photographer's Exhibition was on display.

Ohmygosh! Was it a mission getting there. The whole - going to a place I don't know and not knowing how to get around...me, being me - bought a map of Nottingham -but that didn't help me all that much - at least not yet. Eventually found the tourist info centre...got help re bus to take etc etc.

The missioning to Wallaton Park where the Yard Gallery displaying the exhibition is, was well worth it. It's a beautiful park - the little bit I walked around in. All this missioning of course took time - so didn't do all that much there.

The exhibition blew me away. Especially the winner of the birds section - Snowy Owl Stoop by Louis Marie Préau. It is such a beautiful, majestic photograph.

Yet more inspiration to get the new found love of my life - the D300 and go on a photography course!

Not much else going on... Easter away from home. And for the first time, in a long time, at a loss for what to do. It's at times like these when I become acutely aware of missing home. More missing having the familiar around than home as such but I guess - these things happen. Part of the course of the journey I've chosen to undertake.

I've always been a bit more for the Sheriff than for Robin :P
