So it's going on my 3rd week here.
I really am enjoying it. TONS to do AND see...
Managed to get a job...start in a week and a bit. AAH...i'm actually going to be a dietician! No point in worrying but my total lack of experience...future gudgirl's worries!
I seriously have never done so much walking in like ever! Can't even compare it to being a foot soldier as a student!
Yes, there's the busses and the tube but when doing the tourist things I'd rather just walk and absorb everything in between as well... will miss all this with the tube! And anyway...there's been sunshine and blue skies... I'd rather enjoy the weak winter sun than be in an artificially lit tube underground.
It's the little things that keep me aware I'm in a foreign country (aside from the fact that it is COLD outside!)
Like here it's a Vauxhall Corsa... not Opal and seeing a petrol station is a rarity! not like in SA where there's one on nearly every corner (depending where you are)
And please tell me WHERE in the world will you find a Maserati parked in front of a Ferrari and a few cars down find a Porsche???
Ok, so this last observation was made in like the seriously wealthy part of
There really is a vibe to this city that has way too many people in it.
Wandering around
Not everyone had an audience though...one guy was talking to himself. eish!
There really is so much history here. I don't know why I'm noticing it so much since I know there's the same in South Africa...maybe not as well recorded? Or so easily accessible if you don't know where to look...
I mean there's Roman history and medieval history and then the middle ages and steadily moving into the 21st century.
And this is only
Though I think it really is relative... the hospital I'll be working at has over 1000 beds...HUGE difference from the 99 bed one I apparently gained experience at!
AND it has 24 dieticians!!!! I mean Groote Schuur had like 8 or so when I was a student! The department even has it's own secretary...as far as I'm aware UNHEARD of in government hospitals in SA!
But until future gg has to stress about being a dietician present gg is having tons of fun being a tourist :p :p :p
